Just Below Bronze

MY
PHILOSOPHY

I STRIVE TO BE AUTHENTIC.

In a world that craves immediacy in everything, immediate action, immediate gratification, immediate results, and, one could argue, spends time searching for a litany of immediate shortcuts and secrets it presumably takes to get wherever “there” is, I crave the exact opposite. Maybe old-fashioned, but I prefer the process, the time, the effort, the sacrifice, the act of methodical but deliberate continual learning. The desire for a constant barrage of information falls short on me, replaced without question by periods of idle, quiet, and intentional thought. Introverted, some may say. Maybe. I prefer to think of it as aware, absorbing, and consciously alive.

My philosophy extends to not concern myself with the outcome - rather Take pride in the accomplishment of the process

A few years ago while watching the Olympics with my family, we asked if we were to be a medal, which one would we be? Answers varied. Mine was the most obscure.

“Just below bronze”, I said.

The looks were as you would expect. Strange Dad. Then I went on to describe my logic: I don’t need a medal to prove I made it.

I’m not saying I wouldn’t want to win, but that outcome isn’t where I find the greatest satisfaction. I don’t want to set myself up for something where that is more likely than not to fall short. To me, I find greater value in the process of getting there and that describes the feeling behind my reply.

Reaching deep into yourself and exposing what makes up your core is a challenging thing to do, much yet admit. To me, that is what this project is about. Better yet, this entire site is driven by that same motivation and summarized in the video below. I thought it was time to share the philosophy I so strongly believe in.

it’s not about the medal

Thank you!!

I’ve imagined this endeavor

for quite some time and it is

My dream come true to launch it!!
